I’m pretty impressed with how many new items I’ve managed to complete and get into the shop to prepare for the winter holidays (don’t roll your eyes, they’ll be here before you know it!)
I’ve been hard at work sewing up a new flock of smile-inducing tufted bird ornaments and a few new embroidery designs.
But honestly, I am most excited about my brand new line of cyanobacteria microbe magnets!!
Cyanobacteria (otherwise known as blue-green algae) is a type of microorganism that has been around for a long, long time. They are thought to be the little life form that converted our earth’s previously-noxious atmosphere into one where we could live, breathe and thrive!
What better way to honor these mighty microbes than to stick a pair to your fridge or put them to use in your office?
What do you think? Are they a welcome addition to the WNM family? I think so!
So yesterday I told you I had a bunch of Amoeba & Paramecium Magnet Pairs in the making … Well here they are!
Awesome Microorganism Magnet Duos!
I have already listed 2 of them here and here – I will be putting up the rest over the holiday weekend most likely. See a pair you want now? Let me know and I can reserve them for you!
Right now they are all chillin’ on my fridge (magnets are super-easy to store until they are bought! Haha), I can’t wait to find a good home for them all – These guys are my favorite items by far.
I also wanted to give a nod to fellow Etsy seller greenpix who posted a thread in the forums about how to get Perfect Photo Colors when taking shots of your items – I used Mike’s advice during my photo shoot with the little organisms seen above and my pictures and colors came out beautifully! If you are having issues with colors, please check out his blog post all about it. It’s super easy to understand her explanation and if I can do it on my little camera, I’m sure you can too!
Just another random shot I took Friday during my lunch break while looking up from a bench on campus – I think it looks pretty sweet!
Cool "Canopy" Shot
Enjoy the holiday!
Since my little Paramecium and Amoeba magnet duos seem to be a hit (by a hit I mean I have sold more than one pair and they keep popping up in Treasuries) I am devoting some time to making 6 pairs of them this week! I finished threading their flagella on last night (my absolute favorite feature, but the most tedious task to do …) and will glue in magnets and hopefully even add a few French knot organelles and finish some up tonight!
I really don’t have anything particularly “science-y” today for you, but I figured a shot of these little organisms in the making would suffice :) Enjoy!
