Jim and I like to watch House Hunters together and always laugh at the ridiculous things people include on their “must have” list (ie. double vanity when only one person will be living there or stainless steel appliances when the person doesn’t even cook).
Last week, during an episode, we paused for a minute and thought about what would be on our house “must have” list – We realized we only really wanted 3 things:
- Gas stove
- Kitchen counterspace
- Outside area for a garden
A lot of our life revolves around food and cooking at home, and these 3 things will be absolute essentials for us when we eventually begin house-shopping in the (most likely distant) future.

What’s on your home “must have” list?

You forgot about storage space. I need room for bikes/boards/bass, and you need an Etsy room.
Yes, but we can build and buy storage space afterward so it’s not an absolute essential right away – Also, your picture is mad old.
Large, covered, front and back porch. Eat in kitchen with lots of cabinets, and lots of light.
